Betty Bankston Westmoreland

January 18, 1938 - January 17, 2022

Betty Bankston Westmoreland, age 84 and a resident of the Hays Creek Community passed away peacefully late Monday night January 17, 2022 at her home. She worked for nearly 40 years as a seamstress for Rutter Rex in Franklinton and Tylertown. Betty also worked for Dairyman, Inc. for a time. She was a member of Hays Creek Southern Baptist Church that enjoyed spending time at home with her family and young grandchildren.

Survived by: 3 Daughters and Sons in law: Peggy and James Leonard of Hays Creek, Deborah and Tim Leonard of Montpelier, Harriet and David Cupp of the Springhill Community; Grandchildren and Spouses: Kimberly and Brad Thompson, Amber Leonard and Lindsey Brou, Kristal Cupp and Reid Calderon, Tanner Westmoreland, Madelyn Cupp and Aaron Allred; Great-grandchildren: Jake Thompson, Julia Thompson, Josie Thompson, Hunter Russell, Brain Holland, Henslie Anne Reese Allred, Gabriel Allred, Ray Calderon, Remington Calderon; Sisters: Katherine Cooper of Wyoming, Frances Wills of Franklinton; Sister in law: Elaine Westmoreland of Pine; Brother in law: Thomas Seal of Pine; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

She was preceded in death by her husband Homer “Slim” Westmoreland, parents Joseph Jewel Bankston and Sally Brumfield Bankston, sisters Dorothy Jean Bankston, Audrey Seal, brother Bobby Joe Bankston, sisters in law Paulette Beall, Mevoline Law.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday January 21st from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Saturday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Saturday with Bro. Rick Elder and Bro. Frederick Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Hays Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
