Melvin Freeman
October 14, 1938 - January 17, 2022
Melvin Freeman, age 83 and a resident of Bogalusa, died Monday morning January 17, 2022 at the Sterling Place Nursing Home in Baton Rouge. He worked as a mechanic for Crown Zellerbach/Southern Timber for many years and later at Waste Management in Franklinton. Melvin enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He was always a kindhearted, good-natured man to his family and all that knew him.
Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Kelvin and Kally Freeman of Franklinton; Daughter: Barbara Freeman and Bury Mark of Franklinton; 9 Grandchildren and Spouses; 6 Great-grandchildren and 1 Great-great-grandchild; Sister: Isabel Dunaway of Denham Springs; Former Wife and Mother of his children: Mary Ryals of Franklinton; Also numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his son Randy Freeman, parents Willie Freeman and Mary McBeth Freeman, 4 brothers, 3 sisters and longtime companion Mildred Katherine Slocum.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Saturday January 22nd from 11:00 am until 1:15 pm. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday in the Pounds Cemetery near the Sun Community with Rev. Keith Sheridan officiating.
