Obituary

Lloyd Timothy Thomas

August 29, 1937 - January 21, 2022

Lloyd Timothy Thomas went to be with the LORD on Friday, January 21, 2022. “Tim” was husband to his beloved Cathalene Adams Thomas for 65 years. Other than his time of military service in Fort Bragg, North Carolina which would bless him throughout his life; Tim and Cathy spent their life raising a fast-growing family in Pine, Louisiana. They enjoyed their years raising a family, traveling together, and being together with friends and family.

Tim was employed until his retirement at Gaylord Container Corporation. While there, he served many years as union president of the AFLCIO local 1362 as well as many years as President of Zellco Credit Union. Tim became good friends with the men he worked alongside and represented. His years of leadership extended into the Pine Masonic Lodge 264 where he acted as former Master and longtime member. Tim was called on for his leadership and wisdom many times in professional and personal life.

Tim used his talents in retirement as an entrepreneur in business. He also enjoyed gardening…really big gardens…with his best friend Roy and delighted in gathering his children and grandchildren at harvest time. Tim was a beloved father to his children who found in him integrity, honor, and unconditional love. Each one had a special relationship with him and found joy and good times in taking care of him during his illness.

All of Tim’s kids knew they could count on him in raising their families. He was always a “go to” PawPaw for extra love and attention, pancakes, or treats; even their sick day TLC nurse. His grandchildren likewise showered him with love and attention, and during his illness were always involved in caring for him. They loved pampering him. A small payback of his years of attending hundreds of ball games, birthday parties, graduations, weddings, and celebrations of every kind, including taking them on vacations from Disney to the Smokies.

Harmony Missionary Baptist Church was dear to Tim’s heart. He loved the Lord and his heart’s desire was to see all he knew come to an assurance of their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior…and he was bold to ask about it. He served as a deacon at Harmony for almost 60 years and always tried to encourage the younger members. Tim was steadfast in his belief that the church should be the center of life and never shut down, even if services were outdoors. He kept up with his church family, praying for their needs every single night.

For the past 3 months Tim received wonderful care at home from his therapists, aids, and nurse. They were a constant source of strength and encouragement to the family as well.

Tim was proud of his children: Linda Seal and Stanley (deceased), Janet Blackwell and Mike (deceased), Tommie Robinson and Grayson, Tim Thomas and Suzi. His 12 grandchildren were his pride and joy: Dr. Emilie Seal-Rouse and Mark, Victoria Seal Koch and Karl, Joshua Seal and Haley, Dean Seal and Dana, Scott Seal and Julie; Brett Jones and Ashlee, Alexandra King and Cody; Sydney Guitreau and Casey, Callie Holland and Caleb; Adam Thomas and Brooklyn, Kara Magee and Cory, Peyton Thomas. Adding to his delight were 21 great-grandchildren: Emery Rouse, Connor, Cooper, Cameron, and Cade Koch; Heidi, Hillary, Hunter Seal; Addison and Natalie Seal; Samantha, Bennett, and Emerson Seal; Charlie Holland and baby on the way; Noah and Nash Thomas; Jaxon and Rebecca Magee; Neko and Alfie Jones. In addition Tim also has many in-laws, nieces, and nephews dear to him. He greatly loved his extended family.

Tim was preceded in death by several loved ones: Mother Edwena Bedwell, Father Lloyd Thomas (Step-mother June); brothers Nollie Thomas (Francis), Royce Thomas, Lloyd Thomas, Jr; Sisters: Rosetta James (Malcolm), Ruth Seal (Lionel), Ann Kinder (Dave); Mother and Father-in-law Eunice and Alfred Adams, brother-in-law Bobby Adams. Sons in law he is joying reuniting with; Mike and Stanley, in addition to some dear nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Harmony Baptist Church on Sunday January 23rd from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Visitation will continue Monday from 10:00 am until the funeral service at 2:00 pm with Bro. Brad Cooper, Bro. Darren Uzell, Bro. David Easterling and Bro. Cory Magee officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
