Doris Meriwether Penton

March 1, 1938 - December 8, 2021

Mrs. Doris M. Penton was born March 1, 1938 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Dorris (Bubba) Dean and Alvina Lewis Dean.

She departed this life after a brief stay at St. Tammany Hospital where she worked for over 30 years as an LPN.

Mrs. Doris is survived by one daughter and her best friend Sharyl Lynn (Rayfield) Burris of Bogalusa, LA; five sons; David (Drew) Penton of Atlanta GA; Force Master Chief Petty Officer Christopher L. Penton (USN, RET) of Los Angeles, CA Pastor Boris (Cynthia) Penton of Atlanta GA; Michael Penton of Atlanta, GA; and John Wayne of Bogalusa, LA, two sisters; Katherine Armstrong of Las Vegas and Geraldine Dean of CA, many loving grand children and grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Mrs. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; Alvina Dean and Dorris Dean, a sister Lois Powell, a brother Albert Jerome Dean, her maternal and paternal grandparents and a son, Johnny Dewayne Penton.

Being the oldest of five sibling, Mrs. Doris or "Sister" that she was effectively known as by her siblings, help raised her four siblings.  "Sister" took her responsibilities serious and became a second mother to her siblings while her mother worked hard to provide for their family.  Mrs. Doris worked at Rosenblum Clothing Store for many years before she decided to go back to school at the age of 42 to become a Licensed Practical Nurse "LPN".  She worked as an LPN for over 30 years at St. Tammany Hospital.  Her final breath was taken at St. Tammany Hospital.

Visitation wll be from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on December 17, 2021 at Cook-Richmond Funeral Home in Bogalusa, Louisiana. The Funeral will be at 10:00 AM on December 18, 2021 at Bogalusa High School Auditorium.
