Rita Stuart Wood
March 12, 1941 - December 20, 2021
Rita Stuart Wood, age 80 and a resident of Pine, passed away early Monday morning December 20, 2021 at Tulane Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a graduate of Pine School and later received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Southeaster Louisiana University. Rita taught English and Home Economics to countless students at Pine High School for 30 years. After retiring, she spent her time tending her beautiful flower garden. Rita was a longtime active member of the Franklinton Garden Club and enjoyed going to the meetings with her friends. She loved cooking and baking pies for her family, church family and other people during times of need.
Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: William Gerald “Billy” Wood, II and Maria Wood; Granddaughter: Elizabeth Miran Wood; 3 Great-grandchildren: Ethan Chase Wood, Mason Colton Wallace, Adaline Grace Wallace; Brother in law: Roy Hartfield; Sisters in law: Christine Wood, Carol Wood; Also numerous beloved nephews, nieces, other family members and many friends
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 53 years William Gerald Wood, an infant daughter, an infant son, father and mother Robert Harvey Stuart and Geneva Lewis Stuart, adoptive parents Eld. J. M. and Melissa Stuart, sister Bernice Hartfield, brothers and sisters in law Lavon and Bevie Stuart, Douglas and Mildred Stuart, Edward Earl Stuart, Cecil and Gloria Stuart and other extended family members.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday December 27th from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 9:00 am on Tuesday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Wood Cemetery in Walthall County, MS.
