James ”Jim” Braden

July 29, 1940 - November 04, 2021

James ”Jim” Braden, age 81 and of Kentwood, Louisiana, passed from this life at North Oaks Medical Center on November 4, 2021. He was born on July 29, 1940 in Wilmington, Delaware to Clarence and Pauline Braden. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1966 and was part of the famed 25th Infantry Division.

He served in Vietnam, receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Expert Badge Medal and obtained an Honorable Discharge.

He attended and graduated from barber school in 1968. He barbered for many decades and was a friend to many in his community. He was a Barber instructor at the former Baton Rouge Vocational School and the Northshore Technical College where he retired in 2004 from the State of Louisiana.

He is survived by sons, James “Scooter” Braden and wife Joey, Joseph “Beau” Braden and wife Pam, daughter Kelly and husband Rudy Thorgeson. Four grandchildren Jacob Braden and wife Tabatha, Johanna Arceneaux and husband Caleb, Jonah and Alayna Braden.

He is preceded in death by the love of his life Betty Loving Braden, his parents, and brother Clarence Braden.

A service will be held on Monday November 8, 2021 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood, LA officiated by Rev. Caleb Arceneaux. Graveside services to follow at New Zion Cemetery, Kentwood.
