Drowning at Poole's Bluff

The Washington Parish Sheriff's Office advises that at least one person drowned in the Pearl River at Poole’s Bluff either yesterday (November 29, 2021) or last night. One drowning victim has been recovered and identified as Joe Newby, a resident of Covington.

Another suspected drowning victim has been identified as Eric Josh Williams, a resident of Holden. Officers are continuing the search for Williams.

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is the lead agency on this matter. Assissting in the search are officers from the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office and the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Marine Division.
