Mary Elizabeth Haley Penton

June 15, 1936 - October 24, 2021

Mary Elizabeth Haley Penton, age 85 and a resident of Bogalusa, died Sunday morning October 25, 2021 at her daughter’s home near Covington. She and her family owned and operated Poole’s Bluff Catfish House for over 20 years. Mary loved to play cards with her family and friends and she enjoyed visiting flea markets in the area. She always loved traveling especially to Las Vegas and other vacation spots.

Survived by: Daughter: Pam Thompson of Covington; 3 Sons and Daughters in law: Allen Penton of Bogalusa, Mark and Christine Penton of Carriere, MS, Jeff and Nancy Penton of Bush; 10 Grandchildren and Spouses; Also numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; Sisters: Freddie Knight, Ruby Haley; Brother and Sister in law: Preston and Cathy Haley; Sister in law: Gladys Cannon Haley; Also numerous nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by her son Ricky Penton, husband William E. “Dub” Penton, parents Fleet Haley and Dixie Thomas Haley, sisters Lavonia Galle, Ebalee Lewko, Lettie Illich, Gladys Cooper, Rosie McClendon, brothers Percy Haley, Jewell Haley, Charles Haley.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday October 29th from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 pm Friday with Rev. Kevin Neily officiating. Burial will follow in the Fleet and Dixie Haley Family Cemetery.
