Obituary

Jerri LaJoyce Dillon Brumfield

September 28, 1957 - September 29, 2021

On Wednesday, September 29, 2021, Jerri LaJoyce (Dillon) Brumfield entered into eternal rest surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Jerri, who is affectionately known as “Joyce,” was born on September 28, 1957 to the late Mr. James H. and Mrs. Willie Lee Dillon.

She held a variety of leadership roles at her childhood church, Hayes Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She continued to practice servant leadership at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Osyka, MS. Even when she wasn’t serving in a formal role, Jerri made worshipping God and uplifting His kingdom a priority as a member of the Community Church—formerly Faith Bible Church— Covington, LA campus. She was also an honorary member of Chimney Rock Church in Crowley, TX.

In her professional life, she is most known for establishing, Solid Financial Services. Jerri’s mission extended far beyond being her clients’ “tax lady" she treated each one like family. Even with the outpouring of love she gave to her churches, community, and clients, she still maintained abundant room in her heart for her beloved children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Jerri’s memory lives on in her children, Kenya (Kandace) Brumfield, Candice Brumfield, Latalia Brumfield, and Kendra “Joy” (Emanuel) Brumfield-NaWangna; granddaughter, Nayana “Ladybug” and grandsons Braza and Khylan; brothers, Wilbert (Barbara) Dillon and Dennis (Kimberly) Dillon; sisters Helen (Joseph) Weary, Laura Varnado, Shirley Webb, Maxine (Freddie) Varnado, and Myrtle Dillon; cousins Freddie Young and Katherine Brown who showered her with motherly love; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

She was reunited in Glory with her father, James H Dillon; her mother, Willie Lee Dillon; brothers, Frank Dillon, James Dillon, and Arthur Lee Dillon; and sisters, Emma Love, Dolly Dillon, and Willene Dillon.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at Greater Hayes Creek Cemetery.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home, Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
