Two Charged With Looting in Kentwood

On September 14, 2021, the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a burglary alarm at a business on Highway 38 in Kentwood, La. Upon arrival, deputies observed a front window pane to be shattered and subsequently checked the property for any potential suspects.

The owner of the business then reported numerous items stolen from their business, including cartons of cigarettes and bottles of alcohol.

Not far from the scene of the crime, a vehicle was seen in a ditch. Because the owners had surveillance video, it was shown the vehicle was not there before the time of the crime. As TPSO deputies went to the vehicle, they noted a boot that was seen being worn in the video of the crime as well as cartons of cigarettes scattered about.

Shortly after, detectives arrived on scene and were able to identify two suspects in this case: 25-year-old Tyrus Brock of Kentwood, LA and 22-year-old Usher L Leonard of Magnolia, MS.

With assistance from the Magnolia Police Department and the Pike County Sheriff's Office, these individuals were taken into custody and charged with looting.
