Rev. Edward Fitzgerald Sartin

November 12, 1964 - September 17, 2021

On November 12, 1964, God blessed Attie Davis Sartin and Orastine Lampton Sartin with a son who they named Edward Fitzgerald Sartin. Edward was raised and educated in Bogalusa, Louisiana, and graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1983. While in high school, he loved playing football. After graduation, he attended Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana, where he majored in Business Administration. During the fall of 1984, Edward became a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He completed his graduate studies in the 1987. After being called to ministry, he attended Harper Baptist Seminary in Sandy Hook, Mississippi, and Christian Bible College in Slidell, Louisiana.

Edward was introduced to Christ at an early age, joining Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Tom Bailey, Jr. He later became a member of New Triumph Baptist Church where his uncle, Rev. Jacob Sartin, Jr., was the pastor. After marriage, he united with Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church where Dr. Alphonso S. Nelson was the pastor. While at Mt. Zion, Edward was very active in ministry. He was a member of the Senior Choir, a Youth Counselor, and Sunday School Field Superintendent for Second Springhill District Association. In March 2014, Edward was licensed to preach the Gospel. He continued his membership there under the leadership of Dr. Byron Muse who ordained him in March 2019. On March 8, 2020, Edward was installed as the pastor of White Hall Missionary Baptist Church in Bogalusa, Louisiana, where he preached and taught the Word of God until God called him home.

In November 1982, Edward met the love of his life, Tammy Williams, and they were married on December 22, 1990. Together they raised their children to love Christ and to love each other. His family was his pride and joy, always providing support and guidance. Throughout his lifetime, Edward has several jobs which included being an educator in the Bogalusa City School System and working for many years in the offshore oil industry for Nabors Offshore Corporation where he worked until death.

On Friday, September 17, 2021, God called Edward from labor to eternal rest. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife, Tammy Williams Sartin; five children, Jarvis Williams, Tanethia (Maize Jr.) Warren, Clayton Lundy, Edward (Briuna) Sartin, Jr., and Jaworski Sartin; two god-daughters, Tedesia Burns and Zoe Williams; 14 grandchildren, Jyran Magee, Jaden Magee, Jamarian Magee, Ja’Kira Magee, Fredericka Magee, Jakyren Brock, Takkriya Brock, Tyrik Temples, Eris Sartin, Emri Sartin, Clay’nija Lundy, Kaleigh Lundy, Makayla Lundy, and Clayton Turner; one sister, Glenda (Gregory) Speights; three brothers, David Sartin, Willie Sartin, and Vernell Sartin; six aunts, Oralee Bickham, Margaret Sartin, Emma Sibley, Charlotte James, Edna Rose Wilson, and Eva (Jesse) Blakenship; four uncles, Lynell (Tonya) Sartin, Roger (Mae) Wells, Jerry (Brealan) Wells, and Jessie Gatlin; father-in-law, Nuell Martin; four brothers-in-law, Gary Williams, Robert Williams, Zeron (Libra Williams), and Tellis Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Orastine Sartin; father, Attie Sartin; three brothers, Larry Dion Sartin, Duane Eric Sartin, and Lovell Sartin; grandmothers, Jesse Mae Lampton and Ordin Sibley Sartin Wells; grandfathers, Jacob Sartin, Sr., Hoze Wells, and Carley Lampton, Sr.; four aunts, Emmastine Cowart, Isabell Harris, Cleo Jackson, and Christine Jackson; six uncles, Toby Lampton, Carley Lampton, Jr., Rev. Jacob Sartin, Jr., Joseph Sartin, Charles Sartin, and James Earl Sibley; and mother-in-law, Sarah Williams Carter.

A Drive Through Viewing on Friday, October 1, 2021 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa.

A funeral service will be on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 12:00 Noon at The Kingdom of God in Bogalusa, LA. Interment – Robinson Cemetery. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home, Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
