Etta Dean Gatlin Peters

February 08, 1952 - August 23, 2021

Etta Dean Gatlin Peters was born on February 8, 1952, in Tylertown, Mississippi to the union of Clyde Gatlin, Sr., and Mattie Lee Gatlin. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, La.  She had a great sense of humor, love to dance, listen to blues and oldies but goodies.  Her love for her children and grandchildren was unconditional. She loves her family and friend immensely.  Her last words…I love all y’all!!

Etta Dean Gatlin Peters was a high school graduate of Wesley Ray High School and a retiree of Orleans Parish School Board of twenty plus years.  

On August 23, 2021, at the age of 69 Etta departed her earthly life to enter the arms of our loving savior, Jesus Christ the Lord.

She was married to her late husband Jesse James Peters, from their union, she leaves to cherish her many fond memories with her children: Kentreal J. Peters (Bianca), Yetta Legier (Errol Sr.), Trinetta M. Rhodes (Sean Sr.), and Norma Dexter (Alranzo); 14 grandchildren: Kentreal, Kaylynn, Kyla Peters, Errol Jr., Christian, Justin, Britney, Whitney Legier, Jireh Peters, Lille Rhodes, Dwayne Mutin, David Brown, Dammyon and Deandrea Dexter; Great grandson, Jayden T. Neitzel Legier: her siblings, Claudia (O.D.) Alford , Mattie (Robert) Smith, Vinella Spikes, Joyce (Carl) Scott, Clyde (Carla) Gatlin, Dennis Gatlin, Patricia Gatlin, Kenneth (Patrice) Gatlin, Arletia Gatlin, and Ilene Alexander Ford; several aunts, uncles, cousins, host of nieces and nephews; Lifelong friends, James (Pappy), Lois (Puttin) Franklin, Martha Franklin, and Joseph Matthews.

She is preceded in death by many love ones including her parents, Clyde Gatlin Sr, Mattie Mae Gatlin; husband, Jesse James Peters; brother, Mack Magee, sister-in law, Darcies Peters Allen; nephews Michael J.D. Spikes, and Harry Ellis.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 11:00AM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Wilson Cemetery. Crain and Sons Funeral Home, Bogalusa are in charge of arrangements.
