Shannon Spurgeon Hunt

April 27, 1966 - September 22, 2021

Shannon Spurgeon Hunt, age 55 and a resident of Pine, passed away Wednesday morning September 22, 2021 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a graduate of Pine High School and was retired after over 20 years serving with the Washington Parish Government. Shannon worked in highway maintenance and mowed roadsides and other areas throughout the parish. He was an active member of Pine First Baptist Church where he often gave candy to many of the young children each Sunday. Shannon always enjoyed taking care of his beef cows and working on his farm. He had a heart of gold and never met a stranger, as he always liked to visit with those closest to him or others he just met. Shannon loved his family above all else and he cherished the time they spent together.

Survived by: Father: Houston B. Hunt of Pine; Siblings and Spouses: Guy and Delane Hunt, Dody and Keith Dykes all of Pine, John A. and Melissa Hunt of Thomas, Doddie and Chad Brooks of Pine; 12 Nieces and Nephews and their families, whom he cared for deeply; Longtime Best Friend: Tammy Smith; Special Great-nephew: Carsyn Schloegel; Also numerous cousins and friends

He was preceded in death recently by his twin brother Shane Daniel Hunt, mother Travis Ann Hunt, nephew Mitchell Hunt and great-niece Taylor Miler.

Visitation will be at Pine First Baptist Church (27043 Hwy. 62, Franklinton) on Saturday September 25th from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2:00 pm Saturday with Bro. David Easterling and Bro. Shea Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
