Bernita Cox Phelps

Bernita Cox Phelps, age 76 and a resident of Bogalusa, passed away peacefully Wednesday night September 29, 2021 at her daughter’s home with her beloved family by her side. She was retired after a 20 year career as an agent for Security Insurance. Bernita loved playing cards with her friends and family as often as she could, several times a week. She also played computer games with her grandchildren. Bernita was always a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and cherished all the time the family spent together.
Survived by: Son: Eddie Phelps of Bogalusa; Daughter and Son in law: Niki and Wayne Hunt of Pine; Daughter in law: Karen Roberts of Franklinton; Sister: Kathleen Phelps of Thomas; 5 Grandsons: Cody Phelps, Zach Phelps, Nick Phelps, Jakob Hunt, Bryson Roberts; 7 Granddaughters and Grandsons in law: Heather White, Jessica Phelps, Zoey Phelps, Julieighanna Hunt, Laci Hyde, Callie Hunt and Elijah Jones, Harley Hunt and Zac Estrada; 6 Great-grandchildren: Brooklyn Phelps, Hayleigh Phelps, Khloe Phelps, C.J. Phelps, Chandler Phelps, Maxtyn Phelps; And numerous other family members
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Phelps, son Wayne Phelps, grandson Tyler Phelps, parents Willie Cox and Mamie Carter Cox, siblings Lillie Starks, J.W. Cox, Tommy Cox, William McCain, Simon Cotton
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday October 2nd from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Tom Descant officiating. Burial will follow in the Nobles Cemetery.
