Obituary

Alfred Alton Holden

August 14, 1943 - August 5, 2021

Alfred Alton Holden, a horseman, cattleman, dairyman, carpenter and farmer. A jack of all trades and a master of many. He never missed an opportunity to sit and share a “good ole story” and because he led such a full life, there were plenty to choose from. Though his sentiments may not have been expressed through words, they spoke louder than ever with his actions. Through the years the countless number of show halters oiled, girth straps tightened, stirrups adjusted, miles hauled, and memories made were what he lived for and loved. If he ever shared a story with you or worked a Hui stick for you, you were considered family and you were loved. A man of many talents, a soul of many tales, a heart of much laughter and boots that can never be filled.

He was born August 14, 1943, in Amite, LA and was called Home August 5, 2021, surrounded by family at home.

He is survived by his Lady of 38 years Melody Pounds (Poplarville, MS); son Scott Holden (Rochelle) Picayune, MS; daughter Terri Davis (Jamie “Hog” Davis) Picayune, MS; Step-son Lance Pounds (Brittany) Poplarville, MS; Step-daughter Nancy Pounds Wilson (Sam) Mathiston, MS; Sister Bobbie Miller (Elbert) Pearl River, LA; Sister in law Shirley Holden Amite, LA; Grandchildren Raedawn Holden, Kyle Ellis, Benny (Sarah) Holifield, Kayla (Sam) Smith, Dylan Pounds, Levi Pounds, Brooks Pounds, Elizabeth Wilson, Austin Wilson, and Tucker “Butterbean” Wilson; Great Grandchildren Layla Evans, Kinsley and Kayce Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents Alton “Al” Holden and Cora Seals Holden; siblings TJ Holden, Georgia “Georgie” Gains, and Emma Stillwell; granddaughter Kayla Holden.
