Salvador Joseph "Sal" Moreci

July 29, 1932 - August 9, 2021

Salvador Joseph "Sal" Moreci, age 89 and a resident of the Isabel Community for the last 33 years was called home by the Lord God on August 9, 2021 at Our Lady of The Angels Hospital in Bogalusa. He was born in New Orleans on July 29, 1932 and later worked for many years as a salesman for Hubee Bakery and Sunbeam Bakery. Sal then worked in civil defense in Metairie for several years. Upon moving to Washington Parish, he served his community as a Deputy with the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office before retiring. Sal was also instrumental in establishing the Washington Parish Fire District 7 near Isabel. He enjoyed woodworking and made countless swings, rocking chairs and other smaller items for use around the house. He loved John Wayne and had a huge collection of movies that he watched often. Sal never met a stranger and always touched the lives of those he met. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survived by: Wife of 61 years: Katherine “Kathy” Galloway Moreci; Children and Spouses: Cavell “C.A.” Moreci and Myra Kuhlmann Moreci, Bobbie Joe Moreci Kimbrell and Robert Kimbrell, Judith Serpas; 10 Grandchildren; 7 Great-grandchildren; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members

He was preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth “Beth” Moreci, parents Salvador Anthony Moreci and Sarah Greco Moreci, 12 siblings and a grandchild.

Visitation will be at Isabel Baptist Church (53674 Parker Road, Bogalusa) on Saturday August 21st from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will be held in the church at 12:00 pm with Rev. Leon Hickman and Rev. Michael Thomas officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org)
