Peggy Woodward Saladino

January 07, 1926 - August 14, 2021

Peggy Woodward Saladino passed away on August 14, 2021 at University Medical Center in New Orleans, LA. She was born in Clinton, LA on January 7, 1926 to Austin E. Woodward Sr. and Lovie De Lee Woodward. She moved to New Orleans in 1930 and from there moved to Harvey, Gretna and back to New Orleans. Peggy attended Gretna High School until her senior year and graduated from Sophie B. Wright High School on June 1, 1943. She later worked for Dr. Fred Hornberger OD. While living in New Orleans Peggy met and married Nicholas A. Saladino on June 14, 1948. The couple moved to Kentwood in January of 1952 to be with her parents and for Nick to work for E. L. Brumfield as Parts Manager of his Parts Department. She was an active member of the Kentwood United Methodist Church where she held many jobs. She worked for Western Auto Store and from there went on to work for Louisiana Power and Light Company for 26 years until her retirement in June 1981. 

Peggy is survived by her godson, Nicholas Allen; nieces and nephews, Louis Saladino Jr., Barbara St. Pierre Escudier,Cynthia Saladino Kneip, Michael Saladino, Marc Saladino, and Stephen Saladino. 

Preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas A. Saladino; father, Austin Woodward Sr.; mother, Lovie De Lee Woodward; brother, Austin Woodward Jr.; 2 sisters, Levey Weeks and Evelyn Hille; 2 nephews, Philip Saladino and Johnny Woodward. 

Visitation at Kentwood United Methodist Church from 9:00AM until religious services at 11:00AM on Thursday, August 19, 2021. Services conducted by Rev. Percy Frazier. Interment Woodland Cemetery, Kentwood, LA. 

McKneely Funeral Home, Kentwood, in charge of arrangements.
