John Larue Knight

June 28, 1946 - July 30, 2021

John Larue Knight, age 75 and a resident of Thomas, passed away Friday night July 30, 2021 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was retired after a 44 year career as an operations manager in the oil-field industry. John enjoyed riding his ATVs, working on his tractor and cutting the grass on his property. He loved antique cars, especially Chevrolet, and he owned many through the years, including several Chevelles, El Caminos and others. John enjoyed going camping and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survived by: Wife of 57 years: Freddie Haley Knight of Thomas; Son: Landon Knight of Thomas; Grandchildren: Joey Miller, Harlee Knight; Sister: Eloise Knight Stewart of McComb; Daughters in law: Stacey Bond Knight, Vanessa Lee Knight; Brother in law and Sisters in law: Preston and Cathy Haley, Ruby Knight, Mary Haley Penton, Gladys Cannon Haley; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his son John Lane Knight, recently by grandson Branden Lane Knight, grandson Jagger Knight, parents Wilton Knight and Evie Branch Knight, brother and sister in law Buddy and Nelda Knight, sisters and brothers in law Janice and J.E. Thornhill, Elaine and Pete Seals, brother in law Darrell Stewart, father in law and mother in law Fleet and Dixie Haley and several brothers in law and sisters in law.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Monday August 2nd from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm Monday with Rev. Eric Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Fleet and Dixie Haley Family Cemetery.
