Mary Nelline McCain

January 5, 1938 - July 27, 2021

Mary Nelline McCain, age 83 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon July 27, 2021. She was a faithful member of Ben’s Ford Baptist Church that loved reading her Bible and being with her church family. Nelline enjoyed cooking and often made different desserts for church functions. She was retired after a long career as a seamstress at Rutter Rex in Franklinton. Nelline also worked alongside her family in the dairy business for many years and she enjoyed gardening and canning her tomatoes. She loved her grandchildren, and visiting with family and friends.

She is survived by her Son and Daughter in Law: Rex and Debbie McCain of Franklinton. Son in Law: Burdette Thomas of Franklinton. 3 Grandchildren and Spouses: Brad and Christine Thomas of Carriere, MS, Reginia and Brad Walker of Thibodaux, and Daniel and Stacey Thomas of Arabi. 6 Great Grandchildren: Gary Lee, Brooke Meyer, Bradley Thomas, Gracelyn Cockburn, Emilee Walker, and Aubrey Thomas. 3 Great Great Grandchildren: Talon Wheat, Brenzleigh Daniels, Oakland Venable.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Linda McCain Thomas, husband of 50 years Norman McCain Jr., parents Hance Nelson and Rosetta Thomas Nelson, sister Udine Hill, brothers Leroy Nielson, Estus Nielson, R.G. Nielson.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday July 30th in the Poplarhead Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Lynn Martin, Bro. Caleb Martin and Bro. Jim Byrd officiating.

Pallbearers will be Brad Thomas, Daniel Thomas, Bradley Thomas, Johnny Nelson, Jerry Beltran, and Brad Walker.
