Helen Page McKenzie

April 04, 1935 - July 15, 2021

The Lord is my Light and my Salvation whom shall I fear.  The Lord is the strength of my Life, of whom shall I be afraid? Psalms 27:1

A Godly Life ended on Thursday July 15, 2021, when  Sister Helen Page McKenzie was taken from us.  We look upon death as a sad occasion but the death of a Christian is a glorious time.

Sister Helen Page McKenzie was born April 13, 1935, to the union of the late Charles and Vera Lundie.  She departed this life at her residence in Bogalusa, Louisiana.  She was reared in Rio, later the family moved to Bogalusa in 1958.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to Otha Page, this union was blessed with 5 children.

She joined St. John Elizabeth Temple under the leadership of Bishop John Wesley White.  Helen was employed for 34 years at Rest Haven Nursing Home. in Bogalusa.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter; Gwendolyn (James) Lundie, grandchildren; Lashatelle (Alex) Costley of Baton Rouge, LA, Ingrid Lundie of Bogalusa, LA, Kentrell (Natarvia) Lundie, of McDonough, GA, Jasmine, Janay, Maurice (Tranae) Lundie all of Atlanta, GA; LaJarah'a, Tevoris, Shylandar and Aleia Pam;  a special great granddaughter she helped rear, Anjal  M. Pam; fourteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  One sister; Ida Faye Lundie of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Robert Lundie of Bogalusa, LA, and Johnny Lundie of Slidell, La; 2 daughters-in- law, Evelyn Weary and Valerie Gray; a sister-in-law Georgia Lundie, special friends, Cellie Bell Forbes, Sylvia Lewis, Bessie Carter, Verdine Jackson and Johnnie D. Sykes, just to name a few, a host of nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.

Mrs. Helen was preceded in death by her husbands; Otha Page and William (Duke) McKenzie, her parents; Charles and Vera Lundie, four sons; Kenneth and James Lundie and Larry and Mark Page; a grandson, Perry (Stank) Lundie; and five brothers; Henry, Edward, Clyde, Mac and Ray Lundie.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on July 24, 2021 at St John Temple COGIC in Bogalusa, Louisiana.  

Cook-Richmond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
