Peggy Sue Ott

October 11, 1932 - July 9, 2021

Peggy Sue Ott Obituary, age 88 and a resident of Mount Hermon, died Friday morning July 9, 2021 at Good Samaritan Living Center. She was born in McComb, Mississippi on October 11, 1932. Peggy graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from Southeastern Louisiana College and later received her Master’s Degree in Clothing and Textiles from the University of North Carolina. She then obtained her Doctorate from Florida State University. Peggy taught college courses in clothing and textiles, as well as math courses, at numerous colleges including the University of Alabama, Kansas State University and for many years at Louisiana State University before retiring. She was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed cooking and reading. Peggy loved life and had a true desire for learning that existed throughout her life. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survived by: 2 Sisters and a Brother in law: Leah Johnson of Franklinton, Jacqueline and Joe Dobie of Mt. Hermon; Beloved Nephews and Nieces: John Keller Johnson, Dr. Jeffrey Johnson, Caroline Jackson, Leslie Dobie, Katie and Shawn Mercer, David and Kathy Dobie; Also numerous great-nephews, great-nieces and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents John Monroe Ott and Grace McNeese Ott and a sister Mary Virginia Ott.

Visitation will be at Mount Hermon Methodist Church (30248 Spurlock Road, Mt. Hermon, LA) on Monday July 12th from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Monday with Rev. Percy Frazier and Rev. Byron Putnam officiating. Burial will follow in the Ott Family Cemetery.
