Sheriff to Award $500 Scholarship to a Tangipahoa Graduating High School Senior

Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff Daniel Edwards announces that again this year, the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program will award a scholarship providing assistance to a worthy student from Tangipahoa Parish in furthering their education and training with resources made available through the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Honorary Membership Program.

A scholarship in the amount of $500.00 will be awarded to one graduating high school senior from Tangipahoa Parish. There are no restrictions on the purpose for which the scholarship is spent. The scholarship is not a loan and will be awarded as a gift to defray the rising cost of tuition and related expenses in higher education. The only limitations are that the applicant must be a permanent resident of Louisiana; that the scholarship be utilized in higher education within the State of Louisiana, and that the student be enrolled as a full time, undergraduate student.

Applicants must be eligible for admission to the school that they indicate on their application. The award will only be paid for attendance at institutions of higher learning within the State of Louisiana.

Completed applications must be submitted to the sheriff’s office no later than April 1, 2021, and the scholarship winner will be announced in May. Applications will be available for pick-up at the Amite and Hammond offices, or downloaded from our website. The mailing address to return completed applications is: Att: Dawn Panepinto, 15475 W. Club Deluxe Rd. Hamond, LA. 70401. Applications can also be dropped off at that address or at 313 E. Oak Street, Amite, LA.
