Pearl River Woman Booked for Shooting Estranged Husband

The Hammond Police Department reported Saturday (March 13, 2021) that Wendi Zand (34) of Pearl River turned herself in at HPD  and is accused of shooting her estranged husband. 

On March 12, 2021 at approximately 1:24pm, the Hammond Police Department responded to a shooting that occurred at a residence on the 1000 block of East Iowa Avenue. During the incident, the victim was shot in the leg. Medical aid was rendered at the scene, and the victim was transported to North Oaks Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. 

During the investigation, detectives learned that the victim's estranged wife, Wendi Zand of Pearl River, entered into the victim's residence and shot him. She then fled the area. Warrants were issued for Zand's arrest charging her with attempted first degree murder, aggravated burglary, and illegal discharge of a firearm.
