Obituary

David L. "Weasel" Lewis

April 4, 1948 - March 11, 2021

David L. "Weasel" Lewis, age 72 and a resident of Franklinton, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by loving family on March 11, 2021 at 11:15 am. David was born in Bogalusa on April 4, 1948. He enlisted in the Mississippi Army National Guard in 1967. After basic training at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, he joined the 177th Battalion. Not only did David serve his community and country, he worked at several different gravel pits for many years and loved every minute of it. He worked as a dredge operator and went by the nickname “Weasel” to all his coworkers and friends. David loved spending time with his family, but if you knew him you would think he loved his lawnmowers and cutting his grass even more. None the less, he also loved his Westerns and his pet dogs “Little Bit Lewis” and “Juliette Lewis”.

God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be, so He put His arms around you and whispered “Come to Me.” With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away and although we love you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.

He is survived by his wife Judy Jenkins Lewis, whom he has been married to for 25 wonderful years.
