Roy Elwood Seal
June 9, 1924 - March 8, 2021
Roy Elwood Seal, age 96 and a resident of Amite, died early Monday morning March 8, 2021 at his home. He was born on June 9, 1924 and later served his country in the United States Army. Following his military service, Roy worked at the L.S.U. Dairy Research Station. He then worked at Horseshoe Bar Ranch and later provided ground maintenance for Hillcrest Country Club for several years. Roy then began a career offshore as a pipeline spacer for McDermott International, Inc. before retiring. He was an avid gardener that liked to share all his vegetables with his family, friends and neighbors. He loved to fox hunt and always had a large pack of hound dogs that he was proud to work with. Roy enjoyed mowing his grass even until very late in life. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survived by: Wife of 68 years: Vernell Corkern Seal of Amite; 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Allen and Kathy Seal, Dennis and Anita Seal all of Amite; 5 Grandchildren and Spouses: Kimberly and Hoyt McNabb, Lori and Trey Toups, Ryan and Mandy Seal, Brandon and Rebecca Seal, Aaron Reid Seal; Great-grandchildren: Allison Toups, Brock Toups, Jase Seal, Dane Seal, Brynlee Seal, Easton McNabb; Also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends
He was preceded in death by his parents Brock E. Seal and Lenora Passman Seal, brothers Rubyle Seal, Russell Seal, sisters Modree Cox, Linda Addison, Opal Forbes, Eddie Alford.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Thursday March 11, 2021 from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am Thursday with Eld. Terry Robertson, Eld. James Thornhill and Eld. Mark Harrison officiating. Burial will follow in the Sharon Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.
