Joseph Roy Johnson, Sr.

July 8, 1944 - March 10, 2021

Joseph Roy Johnson, Sr. passed away on March 10, 2021 at the age of 76. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse John Johnson and Christine Bradley Johnson. 

He is survived by his loving spouse, Linda Jordan Johnson, and his loving children, JoAnn Johnson Courcelle (David), and Joseph Roy Johnson, Jr. (Nancy). Mr. Johnson was also “Pops” to his beautiful five surviving grandchildren, Sophia, Kaitlyn, David, Julia and Caroline. 

Mr. Johnson earned his Doctor of Education and became a trusted educator and administrator in the Louisiana and Mississippi school systems. Mr. Johnson was also very proud to have served his country in the United States Army. Mr. Johnson was a great father and Pops, and was a genuine and true friend to everyone. To meet Mr. Johnson was to know him, and he touched every one in his own gentle way. One never forgot Pops, once they met him. He had a huge heart and was absolutely loved by everyone he met. He believed in the simple adage of giving people his time. We could all learn from him. 

A private graveside service was held at Hillview Memorial Gardens in Bogalusa, LA.
