Robert Lee Francis

November 13, 1942 - April 03, 2020

"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalms 37:1

Brother Robert Lee Francis affectionately known as “Elee” to close family and friends was born on November 13, 1942 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to the late Eunice May Brock and Robert J. Francis who preceded him in death. He was the second born of six children.

Brother Robert came into his own at a young age, he attended school and worked to help his family. He met his wife, the late, Gwendolyn Francis in his youth. They were long time friends and joined in marriage in a small house wedding On December 16, 1966.

Time pressed on and life blessed Robert with 2 wonderful children. His eldest was a son, Robert T. Francis, who resides in Bedminster, NJ with his wife Jennifer Francis and son Cameron Walker. Also, from his son two gorgeous granddaughters Djenay Francis who resides in NJ, and Nia Francis who resides in South Carolina. He was also blessed with a beautiful daughter, Debra Francis-Hendrix wife of Tyrone Hendrix, who currently reside in South Holland IL with their son Savon Hendrix.

Robert spent most of his life in New Jersey working in various trades and positions. He worked most of his career at General Cable and moved onto Brown and Glen Construction company until his retirement. Some of his favorite past times included spending time with family, fishing, hunting, gardening, being tuned into a good cowboy movie, listening to music, and playing dominos or cards. Robert was an avid football and basketball fan. He absolutely loved to watch the Bears and Golden State Warriors play. 

Brother Robert moved back to his hometown of Bogalusa, LA. after retirement. He joined Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church where he served his God faithfully. He was ordained Deacon Francis December 18, 2016. Serving God, his family and community was an absolute honor to him. Brother Deacon Francis loved God, his family, his church, and community. He was a member of the Deacon Board, an active member of Sunday School Class. He served on numerous committees within the church: Building and Grounds, Finance, Brotherhood, and Hospitality. He served in the community visiting the sick and helping the needy. Whenever you called Deacon Francis he was always there. Deacon Francis was a very humble and quiet spoken man. He learned to love to pray because he said, “prayer changes things”.

On Friday, April 3, 2020, Brother Deacon Francis passed away at St. Tammany hospital in Covington, LA. Four days after his wife Gwendolyn Francis.

Memorial service Saturday, April 3, 2021 10:00AM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home chapel in Bogalusa with Rev. Raymond Mims – Pastor officiating.
