Ruth Mae George Strahan

January 18, 1935 - March 10, 2021

Ruth Mae George Strahan, age 86 and a resident of Kentwood, died late Wednesday night March 10, 2021 at Our Lady of The Lake Medical Center in Baton Rouge. Ruth was a native of the Enon Community but had lived near Kentwood for nearly 20 years, during which time she worked at Cutrer’s Meat Market and Slaughterhouse. She was a member of the Order of The Eastern Star that enjoyed sewing and gardening. Ruth always loved cooking for her family.

Survived by: 3 Daughters and a Son in law: Christal Dubois of Kentwood, Joyce and Richard Hagey of Denham Springs, Lisa Ledwig of Prairieville; Son: Terry Strahan of Hammond; 5 Grandchildren and Spouses; 5 Great-grandchildren; 4 Great-great-grandchildren; Brother: Howard George of Franklinton; Also numerous other family members

She was preceded in death by her son Bradley Strahan, her husband of 60 years Lee Roy Strahan, parents John George and Effie Provost George, sisters Sarah Mizell, Rowena Jenkins, and brothers James George, Alonzo George.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton) on Saturday March 13th from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Jimmy Hill officiating. Burial will follow in the Spencer Cemetery.
