STPSO Surplus Auction Generates $374,503

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office held its annual surplus auction last month, which resulted in record sales for the agency. Interested parties were able to register and bid on 378 lots/items online. Items consisted of a wide variety of vehicles, tools, furniture, kitchen equipment, computers, office supplies and other items. Auction lots were items from various divisions from within the STPSO, as well as items forfeited by seizure.

Auction sales generated $374,503, which will be used to replace outdated surplus with new equipment. Even in lieu of Covid-19, the funds generated from this year’s sale were the most ever generated from a surplus auction held by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“I would like to thank area businesses and members of the general public who participated in our annual auction, making it a huge success,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “It is always my priority to be a good steward of taxpayer funds while looking for innovative ways to ensure our deputies have the most the up-to-date equipment.”
