William Phillip "Phil" Bateman

November 10, 1943 - January 19, 2021

William Phillip "Phil" Bateman, a loving father and grandfather, passed away January 19, 2021 at the age of 77 from complications of Covid-19. He was retired after working as a construction supervisor for Thomas Construction for many years. Phil also was a truck driver earlier in life for Bateman Diesel and worked at Burris Mill. He was surely a “Jack of all trades” and he had served his community and country in the Louisiana Army National Guard. He enjoyed playing golf and loved deer hunting, dove hunting and riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he was able. Phil enjoyed spending quality time with his grandchildren and family, who loved him for his mischievous sense of humor and big heart.

Survived by: Daughter: Kristal Bateman; 4 Grandchildren: Ernest “EJ” Lester, Jr., Makinna Lester, Kyler Rome, Castyn Rome; Sisters: Ruth Crowe, Donna Kilbourne; Also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents Madison Edward Bateman and Lillian Baham Bateman and a sister Rosamond Bateman Nicolosi.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday January 23rd from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Saturday. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.

Pallbearers: EJ Lester, Chris Rome, Curt Rome, Curt Rome, Sr., Brandon Richoux, David Nicolosi

Honorary Pallbearer is his grandson Kyler Rome.
