Hamilton Burris

March 07, 1938 - January 21, 2021

Hamilton Burris, a lifetime resident of Franklinton, LA, departed life on this earth on Tuesday, January 19, 2021. Born March 7, 1938 to Talmage Burris and Madgquin Crawford Burris, he was the third of six children.

Hamilton united with the Bethel Church of Christ and remained a member until his demise.

He was a 1956 graduate of Washington Parish High School. He served in the United States Army from 1963 to 1967 when he was honorably discharged. He was an electrician and automobile mechanic who spent the majority of career self-employed.

He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife of 64 years, Bobbie Wilson Burris. He is also survived by: two sisters, Gloria Burris Magee of Franklinton, LA and Ora Burris Brock of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Truman (Brunette) Burris of Los Angeles CA; five sisters-in-law; Jenella Harvey Burris, Zolda Wilson Dyson, Hynetia Wilson-Dadzie, JoAnn Hart Wilson, and Otheal Toomer Wilson all of Franklinton, LA; and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Talmage Burris and Madgquin Crawford Burris; sister, Bobbie Burris Hopkins of Los Angeles, CA; brother, Constance Burris of Franklinton, LA; and six brothers-in-laws: Willie D. Magee, Dock Dyson, Jr., Theodore Wilson, Jr., Abe C. Wilson and Myrtis Wilson all of Franklinton, LA, and Jimmie Brock of Los Angeles, CA; one sister-in-law, Nercelia Wilson Butler.

A Drive Through viewing on Friday, January 22, 2021 from 2:00PM - 6:00PM at Crain and Sons in Franklinton.

Graveside service will be on Saturday, January 23, 2021 for 12:00PM at Bethel Church of Christ Holiness USA Cemetery  with Elder Alvin Partman ~ Pastor Officiating. 

Crain and Sons Funeral Home – Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
