Obituary

Virginia Stringer Peters

March 27, 1946 - December 12, 2020

Sister Virginia Stringer Peters was born on March 27, 1946 to the late Huller “Son” Stringer and Annie Stringer. She passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Brookside Rehab in Bogalusa, Louisiana.

At an early age, Sister Peters joined Springhill Missionary Baptist Church in Sandy Hook, Mississippi and remained there until the Lord called her home. She attended grade school at Wesley Ray High School and went to Job Corp. In 1968, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Bobby Peters. To this union one child was given.

Sister Peters took pride in demonstrating love and concern for other people. Until her health began to fail her, she enjoyed baking cakes for numerous community and church events. She also kept many community children in her home. She enjoyed talking on the phone and visiting the elderly in the community. She loved flowers and often said she wanted her flowers while she was living. She had a passion for animals and would keep them if someone needed a pet sitter. She will be missed by her family and many friends.

Sister Peters leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Shunita Belton of Angie, Louisiana; one sister, Dorothy Stringer of Bogalusa, Louisiana; one brother; Charles Stringer of Bogalusa, Louisiana; special nieces, Rita Pigott, Willie Dillon, Shantell Holmes and Katie Dillon, and Susan Haynes of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Joanna Stringer of Angie, Louisiana, Erica Stringer and Katrina Dillon of Houston, Texas and Charlotte Brazzle of Fort Smith, Arkansas; great niece, Shonda Pigott of Angie, Louisiana; nephews, Sherman Stringer, Clarence Henry, Boswell Jordan, and Darren Lee of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Eugene Pigott and Derrick Lee of Sandy Hook, Mississippi, Michael Dillon of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Derrick Stringer and Ron Stringer of Oklahoma, and Eric Belton of Houston, Texas; sisters-in-law, Essie Stringer and Edna. Bickham of Angie, Louisiana, Chris Stringer of Dallas, Texas, Martha Johnson, Theresa Peters, Linda Peters of Los Angeles, California; one brother-in-law, Haburt Peters of Los Angeles; special friends who were like her sisters, Iness Peters and Widie Brister; other close friends, Louisa Mingo, LaTonya Weary, Judy Robinson & Family, Zadie Spikes, Willean Weary, Doncie Owens, Loretta Pittman and Mattie Brister of Angie, Louisiana, Edna Williams of Bogalusa, Louisiana, Tanda Armstrong and Cecile Dalton of New Orleans, Louisiana, Eunice Brown of Slidell, Louisiana, and Lois Franklin and Jerrie Weary of Houston, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, in-laws and friends.

Sister Peters is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers, Joe, John, Will, and Louis Stringer.

A Drive-Through will be from 3:00PM – 7:00PM Friday, December 18, 2020 at Crain and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 4:30PM at Crain and Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Versie D. Lee – Officiating.
