K-9 Alerts to 2.4 lbs. Of Cocaine in St. Tammany

After a traffic stop on Interstate 12 and an alert from a K-9, STPSO located 2.4 pounds of suspected powder cocaine in a duffle bag and arrested the driver.

Shortly after 8:00 p.m. Thursday (December 10, 2020) evening, a member of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Highway Enforcement Unit conducted the traffic stop near Covington on a silver Ford Fusion with a Florida license plate, after observing the vehicle commit a traffic violation.

Deputies made contact with the driver and sole vehicle occupant, Jerry Martin Luther Joiner (age 50) of Florida. The cocaine was seized and Joiner was booked into the St. Tammany Parish Jail on the charges of Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II CDS (Cocaine) and Speeding.

The Highway Enforcement Unit concentrates on traffic enforcement and intercepting traveling criminals primarily on the interstate systems in St. Tammany Parish.
