Parish President Thomas on the 10 Mills Tax Renewal

The December 5, 2020 ballot includes a tax renewal proposition for all Washington Parish voters. THIS IS A RENEWAL AND NOT A NEW TAX. The tax, first approved in 2002, has made possible the construction, improving, maintaining, and resurfacing of  Washington Parish roads and bridges. Its renewal will make possible the continued progress achieved in making Washington Parish a great place to live, work, and raise our families. The tax has made improvements possible in all of our parish communities. Through cooperative endeavor agreements, Washington Parish Government has also been able to assist with improvements for the City of Bogalusa, the Town of Franklinton, the Villages of Angie and Varnado, Washington Parish Library, Bogalusa School System, Washington Parish School System, and others. President Thomas says it best and provides more information in the video.

The proposition reads as follows:

Shall the Parish of Washington, State of Louisiana (the "Parish"), renew the levy of a ten (10) mills tax on all the property subject to taxation within the Parish (an estimated $1,932,569.00 reasonably expected at this time to be collected from the levy of the Tax for an entire year), for a period of ten (10) years, beginning with the year 2022 and ending with the year 2031, dedicated solely for the purpose of, constructing, improving, maintaining and resurfacing Parish roads and bridges, including incidental drainage and the acquisition of equipment therefor, with the proceeds of the tax subject to being funded into bonds for such capital purposes to the extent and in the manner provided by the laws of Louisiana?

Each of us have the choice to vote YES or NO. Vote YES!
