The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting which occurred Tuesday (November 17, 2020) evening in the Alton area.
At approximately 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 62000 block of N. 16th Street in reference to a shooting. Witnesses on-scene told deputies individuals entered the home, which was occupied by several people at the time, and starting firing. The perpetrators fled the area before deputies arrived.
One individual was pronounced dead on-scene and another individual was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The body of the deceased was turned over to the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office, who will make an identification and a determination of cause and manner of death.
