Just before 8:00 AM today (October 12, 2020), Daniel Hale Williamson, age 35 and of Mandeville, was apprehended for 2 counts of domestic violence and resisting arrest.
The incident began just before 3:00 AM when officers were dispatched to a disturbance involving Williamson and his girlfriend. Upon arrival, Williamson fled the scene. Officers attended to the female victim who related that Williamson strangled and punched her. The investigating officers obtained arrest warrants for Williamson.
Shortly after 6:00 AM, MPD received another call of a disturbance at the same address. Officers learned that Williamson had returned, committed a 2nd domestic battery on his victim, had fled into a nearby wooded area, and was possibly armed. MPD immediately set up a perimeter to contain Williamson. Given its proximity to the scene, Mandeville Elementary was put on lockdown out of an abundance of caution, as early care was open, and children were present. Their SRO was also present for security.
A St Tammany Parish Sheriff Office K-9 was requested and deployed. The K-9 located Williamson hiding in the wooded area. Williamson again tried to flee but was no match for the K-9.
Williamson was taken into custody. He will be booked with 2 counts domestic violence battery and resisting arrest and will be transported to the St Tammany Parish Jail.
