Tropical Weather Disturbances Today

Disturbance 1. A low pressure area has developed about 100 miles northeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina.  A tropical or subtropical depression could form over the next couple of days as the system moves east-northeastward well to the southeast of New England and to the south of the Canadian Maritime provinces. Formation chance through 48 hours is medium at 40% and formation chance through 5 days is medium at 50%.

Disturbance 2. Yesterday's Tropical Depression Eleven has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Josephine. TS Josephine has maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and forecast to move west-northwest. The only hazards expected are 1 to 3 inches of rain over the northern Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico.
