James Edward Kemp

August 31, 1932 - August 18, 2020

James Edward Kemp passed away at his residence in Bogalusa, LA on August 18, 2020 at the age of 87. He was born on August 31, 1932 in Bogalusa.

He served his country with honor in the United States Navy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mrs. Lou Kemp; his two daughters, Cherie Kemp of Bogalusa, LA and Tori (Tommy) Stogner of Sandy Hook, MS; his three sons, Mike Kemp of Bogalusa, LA, John Kemp of Shreveport, LA, and Wade (Mary) Kemp of Bogalusa, LA; brothers, Doug (Sandy) Kemp and Wayne (Helen) Kemp both of Bogalusa, LA; sisters, Marie Hunt of Bogalusa, LA, Thelma (J.P.) Jones of Lafayette, LA, Marion Bridges of Monroe, LA, and Lorraine Latino of Bogalusa, LA. He also survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Bertha Kemp.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 19, 2020 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church. Funeral service will begin for family and close friends at 4:00 p.m.

Due to Covid concerns, all others wishing to attend are asked to come to the graveside service that will immediately follow at Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Keith Sheridan, John Kemp, and Rev. Dennis Allen will officiate. Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with his arrangements. 

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Lee’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Serving as pallbearers will be, Tommy Stogner, Jack Stogner, Lance Stogner, Dustin Kemp, John Kemp, Jr., and Logan Brouillette.

Honorary pallbearers are Doug Kemp, Wayne, Kemp, and Landyn Jarrell.
