James Larue Martin
July 27, 1944 - July 22, 2020



James Larue Martin ost his hard fought battle with cancer on Wednesday night July 22, 2020. He left his earthly home in Pine, where he resided most of his life, and moved to a home of eternal peace and health. He was born July 27, 1944 to the late Hezzie Larue Martin and Rosalie Barber Martin of Pine. He was a graduate of Pine High School, and after attending LSU and a few years working at Exxon, he returned to Pine with his loving wife of 48 years Polly Ford Martin. Larue then spent many years as a dairy and cattle farmer, a job he truly loved. He was once awarded the Young Dairy Farmer of the Year.

Larue served for 6 years in the United States Army Reserve, worked off-shore for a few years and served as a volunteer fireman for his community for several years. He also was elected to serve 2 terms on the Washington Parish Police Jury, even serving as President during his second term. Larue was a longtime, active member of Pine Missionary Baptist Church. He loved his church that his family attended for so many years and he even had his favorite sitting spot. He will be missed by his family, friends and church family.

Survived by: Wife: Polly Ford Martin; 3 Daughters and Sons in law: Melanie and Chad Adcox of Bush, Lana and Will Baird of Covginton, Laura and Tommy Linn of Ponchatoula; 7 Grandchildren: Laken and Evan Adcox, Liam and Ryan Baird, Thomas and Leah and Hattie Linn; Sisters and a Brother in law: Evelyn and Charles Reeves of Pine, Elane Martin of Alabama; Brother and Sister in law: Pastor Jerry Lynn and Connie Martin of Bogalusa; Uncle and Aunt: Shelby and Barbara Martin of Bogalusa; Also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.

He was also preceded in death by a nephew Jeremy Chad Martin, father in law and mother in law Paul Ford and Vera Kees Ford, special uncle and best friend Douglas Martin and other family members.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers who ere so kind and gave their all.

A graveside funeral service will be held in the Pine Community Cemetery at 2:00 pm Saturday July 25th with Bro. Adam Luper and Bro. Lynn Martin officiating.
