Obituary

James Danny Bankston
January 17, 1947 - July 29, 2020

James Danny Bankston, age 73 and a resident of Franklinton, died Wednesday afternoon July 29, 2020 at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. He was a 1966 graduate of Mount Hermon High School. Danny served his country proudly during the Vietnam War as a member of the United States Army. He was awarded several medals for his service including the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Danny was honored to serve and felt a strong appreciation for all past veterans and certainly the men and women currently serving their country as he did. He was an active member of the V.F.W. and enjoyed helping feed the Boy Scouts groups that would stop by the V.F.W. as they canoed the Bogue Chitto River. Danny worked for many years as a logistics supervisor on the docks in Port Fourchon. He loved hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Danny also enjoyed gardening and cherished the time spent with his family and grandchildren.

Survived by: 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Jermie and Tiffany Bankston of Lockport, LA., Rickie and Dao Bankston of Raceland, LA; 2 Daughters and a Son in law: Jamie Bankston, Angel and John Verdin, Jr. all of Raceland; Grandchildren: Seth Bankston and fiancé Cheyenne Cantrelle, Kelsey Bankston, Spencer Bankston, Makayla Bankston, Raylyn Guidry, Dorian Guidry, Joslyn Guidry, Morgan Guidry, Austin Verdin, Titan Verdin, Alayna Verdin; Great-grandson: Slade Bankston; Companion: Janel Montgomery; Sisters and a Brother in law: Sally and Walt Seal, Betty Lou Bankston; Brother: Paul Bankston; Also numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Julius Harold Bankston, Sr. and Erlean Morris Bankston and recently by his brother Julius Harold Bankston, Jr.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home (1109 Bene Street, Franklinton, LA) on Saturday August 1st from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 pm Saturday with Rev. Frederick Brumfield officiating. Burial will follow in the Brumfield Family Cemetery. Military Honor s will be provided by American Legion Post 24.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7196 (P.O. Box 572, Franklinton, LA 70438)
