Kenneth Ray Lea
November 15, 1945 - November 19, 2019



Kenneth Ray Lea, age 74 and a resident of the Wilmer Community, died Tuesday morning November 19, 2019 at the P.A.M. Specialty Hospital in Hammond. He was a tractor and diesel mechanic at Smith & Smith, Inc. in Franklinton for over 20 years and later worked at Star Equipment in Hammond for over 20 years. Kenneth enjoyed going to tractor-pulls throughout the area. He loved vegetable gardening and being in the outdoors, often going on long walks through the woods with his dogs Sambo and Buster. Kenneth was always a people person that enjoyed visiting with the folks he met.

Survived by: Wife of 51 years: Sarah Olsen Lea of Wilmer; 2 Sons and Daughters in law: Matthew and Joy Lea of Prairieville, Ben and Jeanne Lea of Mandeville; 3 Grandchildren: Avery Lea, Darrin Lea, Brian Lea; Sister: Loretta Lea Turner of Loranger; Sisters in law and a Brother in law: Sonja Olsen Lea of Wilmer, John T. Olsen and Bonnie Olsen of Minnesota; Also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred Lewis Lea and Vivian Randol Lea, recently by brother Don Lewis Lea, a brother Roger Lea, infant sister Irma Lea, father in law and mother in law Helmor and Edith Olsen.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday November 23rd in the Casper Lea Family Cemetery (25218 Hwy. 10, Kentwood, LA) with Rev. Mike Hegwood officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to the Wilmer Volunteer Fire Department (22115 Hwy. 10, Kentwood, LA 70444).

The family wishes to express a sincere thank you to the medical professionals that provided truly dedicated care to Kenneth: Dr. Maury Drummond, Dr. David Oubre, Dr. Theepa Thaya, the nurses and therapists at North Oaks Medical Center, and the staff of P.A.M. Specialty Hospital.
