The investigation has revealed that Charles Juncker (66), for unknown reasons, failed to negotiate a curve and traveled into the opposing lane of traffic where he struck a 2014 Ford Explorer.
Juncker's passenger, a 91-year-old woman, was transported to a local hospital, where she died several hours later. Juncker and the driver of the Ford Explorer were transported to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Juncker was issued a citation for Careless Operation. Toxicology is pending and impairment is suspected to be a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
