Cynthia Ann "Cindy" Polkey, age 51 and a resident of Franklinton, died Thursday evening September 19, 2019 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. She worked for over 20 years at Franklinton Junior High School and enjoyed teaching and mentoring the young people she had the opportunity to work with each year. Cindy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending quality time with her family. She always enjoyed watching her grandchildren play the sports they loved.
Survived by: Husband of 34 years: Grady Polkey of Franklinton; 3 Sons: Brady Polkey, John Smith, Jr., John Adams all of Franklinton; 2 Grandchildren: Ryan Polkey and Gracie Polkey; Father: Gilbert Spears, Sr. of Ashland, MS; 3 Sisters: Sherry Spears, Krystal Spears, Shelly Carnegie all of Franklinton; 3 Brothers and Sisters in law: Gilbert Spears, Jr. and Ragen Spears of Franklinton, Ben and Christina Spears of Hammond, Jack and Alisha Carnegie of Pine; Also numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, brothers in law, sisters in law and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother Betty Ann Phelps Carnegie, sister Vicky Ann Spears, grandparents John and Gertrude Phelps, Martha Westmoreland, Carlos Spears, father in law and mother in law Lee and Elouise Polkey.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Saturday September 21st from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm and after 10:00 am on Sunday. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday with Bro. Ricky Cook officiating.
