On Tuesday afternoon (September 10, 2019), Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L
responded to a fatal motorcycle crash on US 190 1.5 miles east of LA 434 in St. Tammany Parish. The crash has claimed the life of 45-year-old Michael Joseph Gros of Slidell.

The initial investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Gros was riding a 2007 Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle eastbound on US 190. Gros merged into the westbound lane in an attempt to pass a row of five eastbound vehicles at a high rate of speed. While passing, Gros lost control of his motorcycle. Despite wearing a DOT approved helmet, Gros sustained severe injuries in the crash. He was transported to an area hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
