Obituary

Walter Lee Smith
December 07, 1945 - August 16, 2019



“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course.  I have kept the faith. – 2 Timothy 4:7

Walter L. Smith, Sr. of Angie, Louisiana at the age of 73 departed this life peacefully to go home with his Lord and Savior on Friday, August 16, 2019.  God whispered in his ear and said my son it is time to come home and rest.  He was born on December 7, 1945 to the late J.D. and Mary Smith in Independence, LA.

Walter worked for International Paper Mill 42 years in the woodmill department.

He leaves to cherish his memories his devoted wife, Ossie Smith of Angie, LA; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Peters of Petal, Mississippi; son Walter L. Smith, Jr., and his special friend Tiffany of Saucier, Mississippi. Five grandchildren, Janizia and LaDaisha Peters of Petal, Mississippi,  Sara Lee Smith, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Kayla and Karmon Smith of Tylertown, Mississippi; one Godchild, Alicia Gholar of Atlanta, GA; three aunts, special brother Royan Morris of Bogalusa, LA and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 23, 2019 at the Chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home, 809 East Third Street, Bogalusa, LA from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 62007 LA 438, Angie, LA from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Sidney Burns, pastor, officiating.  Interment will be in Dillon Cemetery, Angie, LA.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa, LA in charge of arrangements.
