Charles Edison Stafford
April 5, 1928 - August 23, 2019

Charles Edison Stafford, age 91 and a resident of Franklinton, died Friday morning August 23, 2019 at his home. He was a graduate of Franklinton High School before attending LSU, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Charles returned to Franklinton and began working in the family business, Stafford Motors. The business later became Stafford Oil Company, which he owned and operated for over 50 years. Charles was a founding member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he served for many, many years as a deacon. He was currently a Deacon Emeritus but always active in the church until he was no longer physically able. Charles was also a member of the Gideons International Organization and The Shriners. He was a longtime member of the Franklinton Masonic Lodge. Charles enjoyed driving around the countryside and going out to eat. He was a man with a kind heart that never met a stranger. Charles was always a loving husband and father.

Survived by: Wife: Lovel P. Stafford of Franklinton; Daughter and Son in law: Kathy and Steve Jewell of Kasilof, Alaska; Step-daughters: Annalyn Penalosa, Annabell Malate; Also several step-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son Johnie M. Stafford, II, his first wife Evelyn Morgan Stafford, parents Johnie Stafford and Rosalie Fortenberry Stafford and sister Yvonne Crawford.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Sunday August 25th from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A masonic rites service will be held at 7:00 pm Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday at Hillcrest Baptist Church from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A funeral service will be held in the church at 11:00 am Monday with Dr. Gene Richards and Rev. Tommy Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Ellis Cemetery.
