Danny Smith
February 10, 1942 - June 28, 2019



Danny Wayne Smith, 77 and a resident of Franklinton, died Friday night June 28, 2019 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. Danny was a very proud veteran of the United States Navy that served for 20 years, including during the Cuban Missile Crisis, before retiring. He then began a 20 year career with the Washington Correctional Institute before retiring as Master Sergeant. He enjoyed raising beef cows, goats and his many chickens. Danny liked gardening when he was able and he loved to travel, including to his favorite Greece. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton.

Survived by: 2 Sons: Rodney Smith, William Smith both of Franklinton; 5 Grandchildren and Spouses: Sherri Elizabeth Mizell and Matt Mizell, Holly Michelle Smith, Jacob Patrick Smith, Kasey Lynn James and Adam James, Breanna Kay Warner and Josh Warner; 3 Great-grandchildren: Parker Reed Mizell, Elijah Cole Lawrence, Audrey Marieann James; 2 Sisters and a Brother in law: Bonnie and Farrell Holliday of Stony Point, Guynell Stevens of Pine; Brother in law: Simon Lewis of Jayess, MS; Sister in law: Lynn Smith of Idaho; Also numerous nieces, nephews, brothers in law and sisters in law.

He was preceded in death recently by his wife of 55 years Agnes Marie Smith, his parents Jake Smith and Merle Holmes Smith, 2 brothers Jessie Smith, Lee Smith, sister Carolyn Jean Lewis and brother in law J.M. Stevens.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Wednesday July 3rd from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Wednesday with Rev. Stan Statham and Rev. Joey Miller officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Mount Hermon Cemetery.
