Albert Ray Magee, Jr., age 81 and a resident of Mount Hermon, died at 5:00 pm Wednesday May 1, 2019 at his home. He was a former longtime dairyman and was retired after a 33 year career with the United States Postal Service as a rural carrier in the Mt. Hermon area. Ray was a longtime member of Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church. He loved watching sports, either the ones his grandchildren played like softball and baseball or any sport of his favorite LSU Tigers. Ray always enjoyed cooking and grilling Bar-B-Que for his family each week.
Survived by: 2 Sons and a Daughter in law: Tim and Grace Magee of Mt. Hermon, John T. Crain of Progress, MS; Grandchildren: Alexis Magee, Timothy Magee, Paige Magee, Dustin Crain, Austin Crain, Holden Crain; Brother: Russell Magee of Mt. Hermon; 2 Sisters: Frances Miller of Mt. Hermon, Wilkie Magee of Colorado; Brother in law and Sisters in law: Relious and Annie Bell Miller of Warnerton, Melba Hubbard of Texas; Also numerous nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years Mary Ann Miller Magee, son Todd A. Crain, parents Albert Ray Magee, Sr. and Cleo Foil Magee, a sister Jackie Smith and numerous brothers in law and sisters in law.
Visitation will be at Mt. Hermon Missionary Baptist Church on Friday May 3rd from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the church at 12:00 pm Friday with Eld. Mark Hobgood and Eld. Don Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Magee-Merritt Cemetery.
