Obituary

Horace Wilson
December 17, 1936 - May 29, 2019



Horace Edward Wilson, age 82 and a resident of Mount Hermon, died Thursday morning May 29, 2019 at St. Tammany Parish Hospital. He was retired after a 50 year career as a hard-working, successful dairyman. Horace loved to work in his garden and watch his favorite old “shoot ‘em up” western movies and TV shows. He was a member of Mt. Hermon Baptist Church who always enjoyed going out to eat with his family at Stogner’s. Horace was a huge sports fan that loved coaching youth baseball for many years and watching New Orleans Saints football or any sport of the LSU Tigers. His favorite pastime was being the Number 1 Fan of the Mount Hermon School baseball and basketball teams. He enjoyed going to all the games and travelling to see his great-grandson play for the Jackets wherever it may have been. Horace adored his great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Survived by: Son and Daughter in law: Troy and Brenda Wilson of Mt. Hermon; Daughter: Stephanie Wilson of Mt. Hermon; Grandson: Troy Wilson, II; Special Granddaughter in law: Donette Wilson; Great-grandchildren: Cassie Wilson, Macey Wilson, Trenton Wilson; Great-great-grandchildren: Kori Fontenot, Kainen Fontenot, Kyler Wilson; Brother and Sister in law: Ralph and Patricia Wilson of Kentwood; Brother in law: Mo Jasmin of Baton Rouge; Also numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Alyne Dale McElveen Wilson, grandson Spencer Wilson, great-granddaughter Hannah Wilson, parents Willie Wilson and Lettie Crawford Wilson, brothers J.W. Wilson, Bill Wilson, Karl Wilson, sister Ivy Jewel Wilson and young brother Johnny Wilson.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home Friday May 31st from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 pm Friday with Rev. Leroy McElveen and Dr. Joe Baugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Bogue Chitto Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial donations to the Mount Hermon School Baseball Program (36119 Hwy. 38, Mount Hermon, LA 70450)
