Myrtis L. Williams
June 14, 1926 - March 28, 2019



“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.”

On Thursday, March 28, 2019, the spirit of Sister Myrtis L. Williams (known by many as Mama Myrt) arose and went to heaven.

Born Monday, June 14, 1926, in Franklinton, Louisiana, she was the third child born to the Late Deacon Cage H. and Emma Burton Hart. As a native of Franklinton, she was a proud graduate of Washington Parish High School Class of 1948. She joined Hayes Creek at an early age and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior under the spiritual leadership of the late Reverend Linwood Bolton, Sr. As an active member of the church, she was a member of the Senior Choir, Financial Secretary, Pastor’s Appreciation Committee, The Mission, Announcement Clerk, and the Prayer Band.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Ivy Williams and was blessed with six children. Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by: her children, Robert E. Williams, Katy, TX, Jerry L Williams, Franklinton, LA, Cage Williams (Stephney), Franklinton, LA, Lenzy R. Williams, Bogalusa, LA, Brenda D. Green (Nettles Green, Jr. deceased), Baton Rouge, LA, and Ivy Lavell Williams (Christiana), Ridgeland, MS, and Brother-in-Law Peter Butler, Sr. Baton Rouge, LA. Fourteen Grandchildren, Twenty-three Great Grandchildren, and three Great Great Grandchildren and a host of devoted nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon Cage H. and Emma B. Hart; five sisters, Eddie Mae Melton, Vergie Lee Hart, Mable Hart, Etta Dean Hart, and Curlean H. Butler. 

Visitation at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Franklinton, Louisiana on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 2:00 – 5:00 P.M. followed by a family hour from 5:00 – 6:00 P.M. Funeral service on Saturday, April 6, 2019 12:00 P.M. at Greater Hayes Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jerome Warren – Pastor Officiating. Interment at Greater Hayes Cemetery.

Crain and Sons Funeral Home- Franklinton are in charge of arrangements.
